The Minds of Children

During annual training,  my husband was shot by a paintball. Finding it funny, he texted the photo to our family. My oldest daughter laughed, however, my youngest was terribly upset. She thought her dad had been shot and wanted to know if he was going to die.

Later that night I was thinking about her reaction. It is really hard as a parent to gage how our children are going to react to war, deployment or even annual training. While I like to think my children are well adjusted and they understand military life, even the simplest of events can rock their world.
